Took this photo, excuse the poor quality, during our round tour of galleries with Unitec. Again the texture, layering and white appeals to me.

The tour has now taken us to Hadley's classroom where I borrowed "Tapies In Perspective" on the work of Tapies.( Sorry for the loss of apostrophes!) My fingers get ichy just watching these paintings, I want to make some layered, tactile images too. Beautiful!

I chose Jeff Thomson's work as my topic for my essay. He almost exclusively works with corrugated iron. I can really appreciate just working with one subject matter and seeing where it leads you. I have a great weakness for matte, powdery white surfaces which is why I picked these two among others in my essay and for this blog.

This image is from Toni's lecture on Terminology in Academic Studies. It has inspired me for my model making in photography. Hopefully you will recognise the texture on the cup in my model when I show my photos at the end of the term.

Now you are with me on my Easter holiday! I took these photos on Slipper Island. Since I am into matte textures and muted colours I can always find new motifs at the beach.

We end our tour at the Auckland Festival of Photography 2009. On our gallery tour with Unitec I picked up a brochure and googled a few photographers I liked. Eleanor Gannon and Lynn Houghton are my favourite two so far. Will go and see the festival after the 15th. I picked these photos for the black and white, the texture and the white background. Thank you for looking through my blog! See you later! // Rika
